Moving despite Corona: How to make your move safe and stress-free
Does your current property no longer suit you? Whether you need more space for your family or your home has become too big, moving is often the best solution. But what about during the coronavirus pandemic? Are you allowed to move and what do you need to bear in mind?
Are you allowed to move during Corona?
As a general rule, removals are permitted in Germany, even during a lockdown. Removal companies work in compliance with strict hygiene rules, such as regular disinfection, wearing face masks and gloves and spreading employees across several vehicles. These measures minimise the risk of infection.
Attention: In special cases, such as high incidence rates, restrictions such as a 15-kilometre radius could be reintroduced. If your move involves a greater distance, official authorisation may be required.
Hygiene and safety when moving
If you belong to a risk group, you should exercise particular caution. Reduce contact with the removal workers as much as possible, keep your distance and ensure that the premises are well ventilated. If you are in quarantine or have COVID-19, you must postpone the move as you are not allowed to leave your home.
Why you should not postpone your move
It may seem tempting to postpone your move until the end of the pandemic, but this could unnecessarily prolong your living situation. Instead, use the time to sell your property quickly, find a new one and organise the move. An experienced estate agent can help you with this and organise the entire process efficiently.
